For a bit of time my Unlce Dick has been undergoing some health issues that the Loyds seem to excel in. Well, last Friday before a show, I received the phone call. Not the call I was waiting for. As the saying goes, "the show must go on".

I'll always remember Uncle Dick for being my Dad's "cool" brother that made sure he supported his family and lived a very fun life. I would go to their house in Owensboro, Kentucky and junk out on colas while I watched the TV. One of the biggest perks, visiting there, was the stash of magazines under the bathroom sink. I never had to use the bathroom so much as I did there. Those colas went right through me. That and the food my Aunt would cook was soooooo good. My Uncle did well.

Then there's the house, on the hill, in Rockcastle. Oh the good times we had there. There were so many gatherings, fish fries, and Derby Parties. I can't help but to think about all of the fun I had there. And that's just the way Uncle Dick was. He worked very hard but at the same time my Uncle Dick was about enjoying life and his family.

So long, Uncle Dick. I will miss you very much.

<img src="http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/1/l_abd03950a6174dc8b9ccef9f87322b34.jpg"

Richard L. I am so happy with last night's show. Everything came together for a fantastic show. Great crowd! Amongst the audience I'd say there were nearly twenty five people who came out for their first time and said they had a blast and would spread the word and come back. That is awesome! It was really nice of some local comics come out and support, too. A special thanks to John Bowman, Trey McClarnon, Ben Bergman, Corey Reppond, Monty Mitchell and Jesse Case for making this a terrific show.

Next month's show will be Friday December 19th at 9:00PM. It will be my gift back to all of you that have supported The Chris Loyd & Friends Comedy Show. But you're going to have to wait to open it.

I've always heard really good things about this comedy club and low and behold they came true. They have a great room that is chocked full of tables that have a terrific view of the stage. The staff is fabulous and I can't wait to return.

See?, here I am.

The month of October is a special month to me. Even now more than ever. Sure, back in the day it meant the changing of leaves, the horrible allergies to mold and vague memory of going to an Oktober Fest (or three) the previous night. Sure the leaves still change and man alive does mold bring me to my knees. This month also serves to remind everyone just how important it is to make everyone aware of this disease.

Now some of you might think that I'm doing this out of perversion or for some fetish purpose but that would be kind of false. Ok, I'm a breast man and proud. But I'm not a fan of cancer. Almost everyone on my father's side have died from cancer. My dad is dead, his parents are dead, my sister is dead, two out of three living uncles (one treated, one still fighting like the champ he is), my brother had some kind of scare, and my prostate is about swollen to the size of a regulation NFL football but I'm sure most of that is stress related. Everyone mentioned above have all been affected by cancer.

Just this year my very own, beautiful little mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had her smoosh'em test earlier this spring and didn't hear anything much afterwards. Just before she moved to Texas I received a call on my cell phone from her Kentucky doctor's office. They asked me to have mom call them. Turns out that something did pop up and she did have cancer. She was given two choices of treatment or removal. Who wants to lose a part of their body for what ever reason? Who wants to go through the pain of cancer treatments? After a lot of family phone time, she decided to have her breast removed and remove the opportunity for the cancer to spread.

Months later, she is ridden of her cancer and is now entering the final stages of her implant being completed. I have to admit it is humorous to hear my seventy three year old mother tell me what it's like to have a boob job. But in all seriousness, it is about my mother having breast cancer and surviving the disease that has taken so many lives.

I don't have pay pal and I'm not in the position to take donations through a blog. If you can, especially during the month of October, do everything possible to help raise awareness for curing this disease. Buy a pink ribbon lapel pin, click on as many breast cancer awareness links on the internet as you can. Little things like that add up and help raise the money it takes for research and treatment. And maybe, some day, every one that becomes affected by this disease can live to talk about it just like my beautiful, little mother.
