Recently my last surviving Grandparent died due to old age. Nothing major but your organs can only work for so long and then they're done. Pop's (Pop was his nick name) lasted for ninety five years and some change so I think he got his money's worth out of his body. So here's to Dillman Putz and his ninety five years of living. He really was a good guy and loved by everyone he knew.
The trip was a hell trip on the way up. My girlfriend's "best bud" (are girls buds to each other?) had a her Birthday Tuesday night and something about being a Jehova she has never celebrated her Birthday. Now that she is not Jehova or something, she can celebrate and decided to do that at the Bar Car for the weekly Nashville Stand-Up's Open Mic. Everybody that came out made it for a fun show to perform and enjoy. On the bad side we had to leave rather early the next morning to get to Missouri. Show Me Bad Weather!?! Yes, the whole way up and the middle of the way back. It was great to find out that as I age, the more I learn not to be impressed with flash flooding. Even in the front wheel drive car we were in we were all over the place at under twenty miles an hour.
The not so rainy parts were fun. Especially when we would stop at a local store along the way to take a leak or get a drink in our Sunday's best. Keep in mind the path to and from eastern Missouri is mostly back roads after you get off at Paducah. There are also a lot of plants and mills in a lot of the small towns you go through. Each time we got out of the car, my girlfriend would say very loudly, "EW. WHAT'S THAT SMELL?!?". The locals immediately fell in love with us and I know those looks on their faces were filled with compassion. The kind of compassion that makes me count down in my head for someone to say, "too good to breath here?".
All in all the trip was good. I got to see my Brother and his wife, my Aunt and as always Mom again. My girlfriend got to see a lot of outside Nashville which doesn't happen often. And now I'm ready to resume this week's regimen of comedy.
Two great shows tonight. First you have:

Then I'll be off to watch the hillarious:

Although I'm partial to the improved flier version by Shelley Raymond:
